I was born in Syracuse, Italy, in 1985. Since then, many people have wondered why I ask so many questions, especially my high school philosophy teacher. And now, since I moved to Berlin in 2020, I'm asking myself that too.

Syracuse no seasons, 2022

As a child I used to go to a bookstore near my home. Above the books towered a large print of a bombed library. What struck me most was the relationship between the books and the people portrayed in the picture, in a situation that was so, seemingly, absurd, sad or dangerous. But it also made me think that I could not afford photography books. So I asked myself: "Where can I get good, contemporary photos without having to ask my parents for money?". So I started reading National Geographic. Then I found that the magazine managed to link my thoughts, especially those that were still immature or never born, the thoughts of many other people and the world.
Today, the Syracuse bookshop where I used to go as a child is the Zaratan bookshop. I highly recommend it to everyone if you are interested in design, Sicilian literature and music.

I began studying ancient philology and archaeology at university, but it was my studies that led me to move to Rome, to study photography and communication at the Istituto Superiore di Fotografia e Comunicazione Integrata (ISFCI): it was archaeology that led me to understand that we live in a world of codes, which deserve to be disclosed, and which can lead to greater awareness and empathy among and with ourselves. I also come from a culture that is very much linked to literature, to the language of writing, and I think that only now, also thanks to social media, are we rediscovering the language of images. We are still in an embryonic state, unfortunately, which is leading to great conflicts regarding freedom of expression and the way we approach each other. However, I believe that human beings were not made to focus on what they see.  We are made of what is yet to come. When we express it (not necessarily only with images), we feel realised. Form is content.
After working in the field of photojournalism and graphic design in journalism and advertising, I was certified by Adobe Inc. as Professional Visual Designer.
I am a great believer in intimacy and the private sphere of feelings, but I don' t believe in only 'private' communication.
